Video: Punjab Congress MLA thrashes Dalit youth for asking questions
Amritsar: A video of Congress MLA Joginder Pal in Punjab is fast going viral on social media where he is seen slapping a young man when asked about the development work in the region. The youth was then severely beaten up by the MLA’s supporters and policemen. The MLAs were counting the achievements of their government in the programme for the proposed assembly elections in the state next year.
According to the report, Congress MLA Joginder Pal belongs to the Dalit community from Boha seat in Pathankot district. At the same time, the youth they beat up is also from the Dalit community. The victim has been identified as Harsh Kumar. The incident took place on Tuesday when Congress MLAs had arrived in Samrala village to attend a Jagran programme. In the viral video, the MLA was reading out his compliments at the event saying that he is a Jimini leader and he first became a councillor, then an MLA because of his work. There was also a lot of applause. Meanwhile, the youth from Sukalgarh said something and was pushed back by the security personnel. Then, hearing his voice, MLA called him close by himself and gave him a mike to speak.
