A case of ‘love jihad’ has come to light in Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh. On Thursday (November 16, 2023), a Dalit girl accused Shan Alam of pressuring her to marry him and posting her video pictures when he refused. In the video, which went viral, the girl appears wearing a burqa. The accused also said casteist words to the victim. The police arrested Shan Alam and sent him to prison.
This case concerns Amroha Dehat Police Station. On November 16, 2023, a Dalit girl filed a complaint with the police here. The 19-year-old victim, who belongs to the Jatav community, said that a year ago she was working in a private job at a university. A young man named Shan Alam used to follow the victim when she went to office. Shan Alam is a resident of Kakarsarai village in Amroha. It was said in the complaint that during the stalking, the accused used pressure on the victim to marry him.
According to the victim, a few days later, Shan Alam took photos and made a video of the victim against her will. When the girl protested against this act, the accused first used casteist words towards her and then threatened to kill her. A few days later, Shan Alam, who is accused of not marrying himself, began posting photos and videos of the girl on social media. The victim described herself as very afraid in her complaint.
According to media reports, the victim appears in one of the photos published by the accused wearing a burqa. Shan Alam himself was seen standing at the back. At the end of her complaint, the victim demanded strict action against Shan Alam. On this complaint, the police registered an FIR against the accused under Sections 354 (D) and 504 IPC along with Section 67 of the IT Act and the SC/ST Act. OpIndia has the complaint copy.
Shan Alam is arrested and sent to prison. Police said legal and other measures are being taken in this regard.
