Jalaun: Dalit student badly beaten for drinking water from teacher’s bucket, complains to DM

The sting associated with casteism is still spread in our society. One such case came to light in Jalaun where it is alleged that a Dalit student was beaten up by a female teacher just because he drank water from her vessel.

Jitendra Soni/Jalaun: A primary school teacher in UP’s Jalaun has been accused of beating up a Dalit student. It is alleged that a Class III student studying in the school drank water from the teacher’s bucket. Angered by this, the teacher locked the student in the room and beat him mercilessly. This made the child mad. The relatives of the victim student have complained about the matter to the DM after reaching the District Magistrate’s office. The student was so scared due to the beating of the teacher that he started crying in the District Magistrate’s office itself.
The whole matter pertains to Kalpi Tehsil Area Primary School Devpura. It is being told that the victim student studies in class three in the school. Whose age is 9 years. On Saturday, the student went to school, where he drank water from the bucket of the teacher posted in the school. It is alleged that angry teacher humiliated the student with casteist words, locked him in the room and beat him badly.
When the family members of the student reached the school after getting the information about the matter, the teacher chased them away by threatening them. The family members of the victim student reached the Collectorate today and complained about the matter to the District Magistrate Chandni Singh. The victim student told that he had drunk water from the teacher’s bucket to eat medicine, after which they took all the children out of the class and beat him up by locking him alone. How much truth is there in the allegations of the family members of the student, it will be known only after the police investigation. But such incidents expose the sting of casteism in the society. There is a need to ban these.
