The bullies did not allow the last rites of the Dalit village head’s wife to be performed, the police got the cremation done.
A shocking case has come to light from village Salpur in Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh. Where after the death of a Dalit chief’s wife, the bullies did not allow his wife’s last rites to be performed in the village crematorium. When Pradhan complained about this whole matter to the district administration, the police came into action and performed the last rites of the wife in their presence.
On one hand, Modi government is talking about development of all with support of all. On the other hand, some small minded people are not desisting from following anti-Dalit policies. The latest case is of Salpur village of Tappal police station area. Where the wife of a Dalit chief, suffering from illness, dies. After the death of his wife, when the Dalit head goes to the crematorium to perform the last rites of his better half, some powerful people of the same village stop him from performing the last rites. He is told that since he belongs to the Dalit community, he cannot perform the last rites of his wife in this crematorium.
Police reached the spot after getting information and got the body cremated.
Angered by this, the village head informs the district administration about this. After the information from the district administration, the police department swung into action and reached the cremation ground and performed the last rites of the Dalit Pradhan’s wife in the presence of the police. However, everything was resolved peacefully in the presence of police. But the big question is that in this society where Modi government is talking about support for all and development for all, why are Dalits still backward?
