Four days on, 6 detained for gang rape of minor dalit girl
Patna: Six persons were detained on Friday in connection with the gang rape of a 13-year-old dalit girl in a Khagaria village on May 6. The minor girl was allegedly abducted by six persons outside her house on the night of May 6 and taken to a nearby field, where she was gang-raped throughout the night. The accused also recorded the incident on their mobile phone to blackmail her against revealing the matter before fleeing the village.
Khagaria superintendent of police Chandan Kushwaha said an FIR was lodged by the rape survivor’s mother against six persons belonging to the same village.
According to the FIR, the girl had gone out to answer the nature’s call late on the night of May 6, when the accused intercepted her, stuffed a cloth in her mouth at gunpoint and took her to a nearby field, where they raped her throughout the night, taking turns. “The accused also made a video of the rape and threatened her to make it viral on social media if she revealed the matter. On reaching home the next morning, the victim, however, informed her parents about the incident. Subsequently, a complaint was filed at the local police station on May 7,” read the FIR. The local police station house officer, Ajeet Kumar, said the medical examination of the rape survivor was conducted on May 8, and that its reports were awaited. “The statement of the rape survivor was recorded under Section 164 of the CrPC on May 9.
