Complaint of illegal occupation of Dalit cemetery land: Women of Manjhanpur town surrounded DM office, instructions to SDM to investigate
Women have mobilized against illegal encroachment of Dalit cemetery land in a locality of Manjhanpur municipality. Collectively the women reached the DM office on Friday and appealed for justice from the officers. The Additional Magistrate in the DM office has taken the application and asked the SDM to investigate and take action.
Sumitra Devi, wife Ram Naresh and more than a dozen other Dalit families live in Hazratganj locality of Manjhanpur municipality. There is 1 bigha land located in the locality, land account number 1238, Gata number 1842. Dalit community has been performing the last rites and burial of their family and ancestors on this land.
Woman Sumitra Devi told that Haroon son Moharram Ali, resident of Azad Nagar locality, along with his people are encroaching on the cemetery land by dumping soil. Earlier action was taken against him in land mafia number 61020101001/2021. Even after this he is allowing his people to occupy the land further.
Demand to free the land from encroachment
The victim and other women collectively reached the DM office and submitted an application before the officer, demanding that the land be freed from illegal encroachment by taking action against the accused. DM Rajesh Rai has taken the application from the women and sent the investigation to SDM Manjhanpur through Additional Magistrate. The DM has assured the women that if the matter is found true after investigation, legal action will be taken against the accused person.
