Shocking incident in Alinagar, Chandauli: Body of innocent girl found in straw; family suspects rape; 3 suspects detained
Chandauli: A shocking incident has come to light in the Alinagar police station area of Chandauli district, Uttar Pradesh. The body of a six-year-old girl, missing since Monday evening, was found hidden in a straw pile in the village on Tuesday morning. Eyewitnesses suspect the girl was brutally raped and then murdered.
Police have taken the body into custody and sent it for a postmortem examination. They have detained three suspects in the case and begun questioning them.
How did the incident happen?
According to family members, the girl was returning from her uncle’s house with her grandmother at around 8:30 pm on Monday night. On the way, the grandmother stopped to talk to an acquaintance, while the girl continued walking home. When she didn’t return home for a long time, the family became worried and began searching for her.
After searching all night, and still finding no sign of the girl, they went searching for her again on Tuesday morning. A short distance from the house, they found the girl’s blood-stained clothes lying near a haystack. Biscuit, candy, and gutkha wrappers were also scattered nearby. Fearing the worst, the hay was removed and the girl’s body was discovered, causing a moment of panic within the family.
The deceased girl’s father tearfully recounts, “I last saw the girl at around 7:30 in the evening. When she wasn’t seen after that, her mother told me to go find her and then we’d have dinner. But the girl hasn’t been found. It’s been three days, and the accused hasn’t been caught.” Police Investigation and Action
Upon receiving information about the incident, Chandauli Superintendent of Police (SP) Aditya Langeh and Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Anant Chandrashekhar arrived at the scene with police force and a forensic team. The forensic team collected blood-stained clothes, wrappers, and other evidence from the scene for examination.
Acting immediately, the police detained three suspects and are being interrogated. The family suspects a man from the same village of perpetrating the crime.
Police officials stated that the external injuries on the girl’s body are unclear. ASP Anant Chandrashekhar stated that the actual cause of death and rape will only be confirmed after the postmortem report. Currently, a case has been registered against unknown persons and an investigation is underway.
Announcement of 10 Lakh Rupees Compensation
Following this heinous incident, the district administration has also become active. Local MLA Ramesh Jaiswal, who is currently busy with the Bihar Assembly elections, issued strict instructions to officials over the phone. He demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits and strict action.
On the MLA’s instructions, financial assistance of ₹10 lakh has been announced for the victim’s family under the Rani Lakshmibai Mahila Samman Yojana. This amount will be transferred directly to the beneficiary’s account (DBT) within a week. Additionally, officials have been instructed to provide a permanent home under the Chief Minister’s Housing Scheme if the family has a kutcha house.
Youth Congress District President Visits Victim’s Family
Chandauli Youth Congress District President Madhavendra Murti Ojha, who visited the victim’s family at their home, stated that the police have filed a charge sheet in the case and arrested three suspects. However, these suspects are yet to be apprehended. He said, “The local MLA is currently contesting the Bihar elections. He hasn’t even arrived yet despite such a major incident.”
Uttar Pradesh Tops in Such Crimes
According to the latest NCRB (National Crime Records Bureau) data, Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of cases of sexual assault against minors in the country. According to the 2023 report, a total of 18,852 cases of crimes against children were registered in Uttar Pradesh, of which 38.2% were registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).

A total of 177,335 cases of crimes against children were registered across India in 2023, of which 67,694 were under the POCSO Act. However, Uttar Pradesh registered 7,129 cases under the POCSO Act in 2021, and 6,898 in 2020, the highest in the country. In cases of sexual assault under the POCSO Act, the accused were mostly known to the girls (family, neighbors, or friends). The national crime rate was 39.9 cases per 100,000 child population in 2023. However, this rate in Uttar Pradesh was slightly lower than the national average (8.1 per 100,000).
