Hyderabad: A third transgender individual, who took part in the mass self-immolation protest against another transgender person named Monalisa, died at Gandhi Hospital on Tuesday, days after two others succumbed to their burns.
The deceased, 24-year-old Navneetha, was among a group of around 40 transgender persons who set themselves on fire during the protest, alleging harassment by Monalisa, whom they accused of harassment and forcing them into prostitution.
Eight members of the group sustained burns and were rushed to Gandhi Hospital. Among them were Afsana and Heena, who died on Nov 20 and 23. Police said five of the remaining six injured protesters recovered and were discharged three days ago, but Navneetha could not be saved.
