Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge have written a joint letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the immediate restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
They called the demand a “legitimate” and “constitutional” aspiration of the people. The letter highlights that J&K’s downgrade from a state to a Union Territory is unprecedented in independent India’s history.
The Congress leaders also reminded the Prime Minister of his past promises and statements assuring statehood for the region. The letter comes just ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, intensifying pressure on the Centre to act
