Rahul Gandhi claimed PM Modi would "meekly bow" to Donald Trump's July 9 trade deadline, accusing the government of prioritizing U.S. pressure over national interest.

The statement came amid intense India-U.S. tariff negotiations. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal hit back, saying India will not compromise and that this is not the “UPA era”. Goyal reaffirmed that a trade deal will happen only if India’s interests are secured.
