Trans rights activist Akkai Padmashali speaks about being named as a member of a Supreme Court-appointed committee.

Trans rights activist Akkai Padmashali has been named as a member of a Supreme Court-appointed committee that has been to formulate an equal opportunity policy for the protection of the rights of transgender persons.

With this, Ms. Padmashali becomes the first transgender person from Karnataka to be part of a panel appointed by the apex court. It is also the first Supreme Court-appointed committee to have representation from the transgender community.
