Patna: Assembly elections are going to be held in Bihar. In the election environment, former Congress Party President and MP Rahul Gandhi has taken the lead. Rahul Gandhi is taking out ‘Voter Rights Yatra’ in Bihar. This journey started from Sasaram on 17 August. The target of this journey is to reach 50 assembly seats in 23 districts. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav is also with Rahul Gandhi. Now to support Rahul Gandhi, his sister Priyanka Gandhi will also join this journey.
Priyanka Gandhi’s first big program in Bihar
Along with Rahul Gandhi, now his sister Priyanka Gandhi is also going to be a part of this campaign. Priyanka will visit Bihar on a two-day tour on 26 and 27 August. On 26 August, she will join the Voter Rights Yatra in Supaul and Madhubani. On 27 August, she is scheduled to offer prayers at the Janaki temple. Along with this, there will also be a road show in Darbhanga and Muzaffarpur. This is Priyanka’s first big program in Bihar after joining active politics.
Congress’ performance in NDA’s stronghold
The areas where Priyanka Gandhi will hold road shows and join the yatra are traditionally considered the stronghold of NDA and BJP. However, these areas have once been a strong base of Congress as well. The party is now trying to regain its lost ground.
Priyanka’s entry on Haritalika Teej
The day Priyanka Gandhi will join the yatra is the same day Haritalika Teej is celebrated in Bihar and eastern UP. It is being linked to women who are considered to be Nitish Kumar’s core vote bank. Political analysts believe that through this strategy, the Congress wants to send a direct message to women. At the same time, Priyanka’s worship at the Janaki temple is being considered an attempt to counter BJP’s Hindutva politics.
‘Challenge to BJP’s strategy on its own ground’
According to senior journalist Ramakant Chandan, this visit of Priyanka Gandhi shows the new strategy of the Congress. BJP has been taking electoral advantage on emotional and religious issues. Now Congress is also preparing to get on the same pitch. He said that in the Bengal elections, Mamata Banerjee also recited Chandi from the stage to counter similar allegations. Priyanka’s visit to the temple in Bihar can be a new political experiment for the Congress.
Strategy to woo half the population
The Grand Alliance was missing women leadership in the 2020 elections. This time Congress has tried to fill this gap by fielding Priyanka Gandhi earlier. Priyanka is also considered a popular face among women in Bihar.
