Visakhapatnam: Vizag city police, with support from local bodies and various organisations, are helping transgender individuals find employment.
Under “Mission Jyotirgamaya,” Vizag city police chief Dr Shanka Brata Bagchi has been working to provide livelihood and dignity to the transgender community in the city. As a first step, 20 transgender persons have been appointed as sanitation workers with GVMC, and five others have availed loans from SBI to start small businesses.
The city police said they aim to create employment opportunities for all transgender individuals in Vizag in the coming days.
