A Battle for Survival: Rahul Gandhi Takes Charge of Bihar Congress, Creates a 4-Point Formula for Unity

Congress damage control mission – After the disappointing results of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, the Congress party has now embarked on a major struggle to save its existence. Amidst growing indiscipline within the party and discussions about all six MLAs switching sides, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and National President Mallikarjun Kharge have taken charge. Patna: The national party Congress is not only disappointed with its electoral performance in Bihar these days but is also troubled by the extreme indiscipline at the organizational level. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is going to personally lead the campaign to revitalize the state Congress. According to Congress sources, this is Rahul Gandhi’s damage control mission. This damage control mission, organized in Delhi, will include the six MLAs and some prominent leaders. When and where will it be held? According to information received from party sources, all six MLAs of the state Congress have been called to Delhi on January 23. This meeting has been organized at Indira Bhavan in Delhi. This meeting is considered very important for the Bihar Congress. Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge will be present in this important meeting. This meeting has been called to strengthen the organization in Bihar and to discuss the party’s future strategy. Why was the damage control mission started? In fact, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had high hopes from Bihar. It was the increasing attraction of the Congress’s core vote base towards the party in Bihar that led the Congress to even claim to contest the elections alone. The results of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections were shocking. The most disturbing news was that all six Congress MLAs were joining the JDU. In such a situation, the Congress would have no representation in the Bihar Assembly. The Congress, which has been fighting for public interest in the assembly, would then become a party confined to the streets. A lesson in discipline will be taught In this meeting, Rahul Gandhi’s role is going to be crucial. The ideal situation for the Congress and its accountability towards the public in today’s date will be determined. Programs will be planned against Narendra Modi’s government. Currently, the Congress party’s intention is that: 1. The six Congress MLAs remain in the party. 2. They remain united in the upcoming Rajya Sabha and MLC elections and follow the party’s policies. 3. Changing the name of MNREGA is an insult to Mahatma Gandhi. A protest strategy will be devised for both the streets and the legislature with this in mind. 4. In the upcoming session, they should oppose the negative actions of the government along with their Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) partners and ask as many questions as possible. They should corner the government on issues requiring attention. Rahul Gandhi will try to persuade the rebellious Bihar Congress MLAs; a meeting will be held on January 23.

Amidst speculations that all six Congress MLAs from Bihar might leave the party, these MLAs have received a summons from Delhi. A meeting will be held with Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge at Indira Bhavan in Delhi on January 23. Patna: All six Congress MLAs from Bihar have been summoned to Delhi. This summons is very significant amidst speculations that all six Congress MLAs from Bihar might leave the party. A crucial meeting will be held at Indira Bhavan on January 23 in the presence of Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. The main objective of this meeting is to strategize on strengthening the organization in Bihar and to elect the leader of the legislative party. Congress MLAs may switch sides It is noteworthy that for the past month, there have been speculations that Congress MLAs in Bihar might switch sides. Several leaders of the ruling party have claimed that all six Congress MLAs will leave the party. It is also being claimed that the Congress MLAs might join the JDU. These speculations gained further momentum when not a single party MLA attended the Congress’s Dahi-Chura feast on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. Now it is believed that Rahul Gandhi and party president Kharge in Delhi might try to dissuade these MLAs from leaving the party by holding talks with them. The Bihar Congress held a meeting with its MLAs on Monday. In this meeting, Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee in-charge Krishna Allavaru and state president Rajesh Ram met with the chairmen of various party cells, departments, and MLAs to discuss the future strategy. Along with strengthening the organization, the responsibility of ensuring the strong implementation of the MNREGA law in the districts was also assigned. Protest against the rape and murder of a student Meanwhile, the Congress staged a strong protest against the government in Bihar over the rape and murder of a NEET student. The protesting women activists carried bangles for the Home Minister. They also burnt an effigy of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Bihar Congress President Rajesh Ram and in-charge Krishna Allavaru also participated in this protest. Krishna Allavaru said, “The police tried their best to suppress the case. An FIR was registered due to public pressure. An SIT has been formed, but the investigation should be conducted properly.” The meeting in Delhi will prove crucial in deciding the Congress party’s future strategy in Bihar. The election of the legislative party leader is expected to give the party a new direction. Plans are being made to work at the grassroots level to strengthen the organization. Emphasis is also being placed on effectively implementing the MNREGA scheme so that common people can benefit from it. Brutal act in Jamui: Dalit student abducted, stripped naked and chased, beaten with rods; uproar after video goes viral

Inter student subjected to brutality due to old enmity; abducted from Atithi Palace, 2 taken into custody after video goes viral.. Jamui: A shocking incident that shames humanity has come to light from Jamui district of Bihar. Here, fearless miscreants, defying law and order, crossed all limits of cruelty against a Dalit student. The accused first abducted the student, then took him to a secluded place and brutally beat him with iron rods. Not content with that, they stripped him naked, chased him around while beating him, and made a video of the entire barbaric act, which has now gone viral on social media. What is the whole matter? The incident took place near Maniyadda (Mani Adda) village in the Town police station area. The victim has been identified as Abhishek Paswan, son of Rajaram Paswan of Bhatchak village, who is an intermediate student. The victim, Abhishek, told the police that about a month ago, his brother-in-law had a dispute with some people. Due to this enmity, a person named W Singh called him deceptively. As soon as he reached near ‘Atithi Palace’ in the city, his mobile phone was snatched, and he was forcibly taken on a motorcycle to Bhajaur Chhath Ghat. Beaten with rods and video made It is alleged that after taking him to the ghat, W Singh, Mounty Singh, Chhotu Yadav, Seetu Singh, Gaurav Singh, Ashutosh Singh, Salu Singh and Raghuveer Singh, along with others, attacked him. He was beaten with kicks, punches, and iron rods. Showing their dominance, the accused stripped the student of his clothes and humiliated him by making him run naked. During this time, they also made a video, which has now gone viral. Police Action and Arrests Upon receiving information about the incident, the ‘Dial 112’ police team reached the spot and rescued the injured student on Friday afternoon, admitting him to Sadar Hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment. Jamui SP Vishwajeet Dayal has confirmed the incident and issued a press release. He stated that the police have obtained the viral video, based on which the accused are being identified. The police have taken swift action and detained two people for questioning. Raids are underway to apprehend the other absconding accused. ‘Safe Seat’ Under Scrutiny This incident also appears to be taking on a political dimension. The Jamui Lok Sabha seat is considered a ‘safe seat’. LJP (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan has been a Member of Parliament from here twice, and currently, his brother-in-law Arun Bharti, who himself belongs to the Dalit community, is the MP from this constituency. Such brutality against a Dalit youth in such a high-profile area raises serious questions about law and order and the claims of ‘Dalit safety’ in the region. Rajan Chaudhary Courtesy: Hindi News

Dalit Politics Heats Up in Bihar Assembly as RJD, Congress Shift Focus After Poll Defeat

RJD stirs controversy in House as Congress high command reviews Dalit outreach strategy. Patna: A heated exchange unfolded in the Bihar Assembly on Thursday during a discussion on the Governor’s address, after the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) diverted the debate toward Dalit issues. The move sparked loud protests from the ruling NDA, leading to sharp political confrontation inside the House.Patna real estate RJD MLA Kumar Sarvjeet triggered the flashpoint with two controversial remarks. He alleged that Dalit areas in Gaya district still lacked basic infrastructure. He also claimed that Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College Hospital resembled a Dalit colony because development had been ignored there. His remarks drew immediate objections from NDA leaders, who demanded he withdraw his statements. Speaker Prem Kumar intervened and cited available data on development projects at the medical college. The argument intensified when senior JD(U) leader and former minister Ratnesh Sada hit back, declaring that Dalits would “never forgive” Sarvjeet for how they were treated during the RJD regime. Grand Alliance Returns to Dalit Agenda The confrontation in the Assembly comes days after the Congress held a review meeting in Delhi over its poor performance in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. The party leadership reportedly resolved to shift its political strategy and focus on Dalits, Muslims, and Bhumihars instead of EBCs and OBCs.Bihar tourism guide The Congress has since appointed Rajesh Ram, a Dalit leader, as the party’s state president — the fourth Dalit to hold this post in Bihar. The party is considering increasing Dalit representation in key organizational roles at the state level. Why the Sudden Political Outreach to Dalits? Six Key Factors Data from the recent election highlights why RJD and Congress are aggressively attempting to rebuild trust among Dalit voters: Bihar Assembly has 40 reserved seats (38 SC, 2 ST) NDA won 35 of these seats; Grand Alliance secured only 5 NDA won 34 of 38 SC seats and 1 of 2 ST seats NDA grabbed 87% of reserved seats — double its 2020 performance NDA fielded 40 Dalit candidates and won 35 seats Grand Alliance fielded 40 Dalit candidates but won just 5 seats Dalit Vote Shift Toward NDA According to Pollsmap survey and Lokniti data, the Dalit vote consolidated behind the NDA in 2025. Nearly two-thirds of Dalit voters supported the alliance, a sharp contrast to 2020 when Dalit votes were fragmented. Among the Paswan/Dusadh community — a key Dalit bloc — 62 percent voted for the NDA. In 2020, when the LJP(R) contested separately, votes were split between alliances. Leadership Advantage for NDA Experts say NDA benefited from having two prominent Dalit leaders — LJP(R) chief Chirag Paswan and HAM leader Jitan Ram Manjhi. Their presence gave the ruling coalition a decisive edge. A senior journalist notes that in closely fought contests, small vote shares matter significantly. “Chirag Paswan turned out to be a key factor. Last time, he damaged JD(U)’s prospects on nearly 30 seats. This time, he helped them win,” he said. The Grand Alliance, meanwhile, lacks a Dalit leader who can influence votes at this scale — a gap now pushing both RJD and Congress to aggressively reclaim lost ground. As Bihar politics pivots toward caste alignments once again, the Dalit vote has emerged as the most crucial battleground ahead of the next major political contest Courtesy : Patna Press Note: This news is originally published on https:/patnapress.com/bha and is used purely for non-profit/non-commercial purposes, especially human rights

Was match-fixing already taking place in 11 Bihar seats? Statistics suggest otherwise.

Bihar Politics: RJD and Congress held separate meetings to review the Bihar election defeat. But what will be the gist of these meetings when both the losers and the losers were part of the Grand Alliance? In reality, they were defeated not by the NDA, but by their own stubbornness and arrogance. Patna: Both were blind, the fire was blazing ahead, yet they jumped into it. Now they are reviewing how they got burned? This is exactly what RJD and Congress did in the Bihar Assembly elections. Both insisted on jumping into the fire while they were still awake. They kept fighting for tickets, but the issue wasn’t resolved until the elections. They destroyed themselves in the battle of ‘Hum Mir Hum Hum Mir Hum Mir’. Defeat in 11 seats was certain even before the elections. Reviewing the defeat of those who deliberately lost is a mere time pass. The barn does not fill with lies. Instead of blaming each other in the name of review, we should look within ourselves to see what our mistakes were. Towards a Parting of the Ways A meeting has already been held in Delhi to review the Congress’s humiliating defeat in the Bihar Assembly elections. Now, a meeting of district presidents was held in Patna to gather feedback on the party’s poor performance. Other district organization leaders also attended this meeting. Reports were taken from each district on the reasons for the party’s defeat. After the meeting, Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee President Rajesh Ram said, “Our alliance with the RJD is only an electoral alliance; it has no organizational basis. The Congress party is expanding its organization to strengthen itself. There has been no discussion between the Congress and the RJD after the elections. Whether they will form a joint strategy as an opposition party is also unclear.” What did we gain from this reluctant alliance? There is a Bhojpuri saying: “Beman ke biyah kanpatiye senur” (unwillingly applied vermilion to the temple in the marriage). The alliance between RJD, Congress, and the Left parties was similar. Seat sharing is always clear in any electoral alliance. If a friendly fight ensues, it indicates a lack of trust among the constituent parties. Deception is inherent in the intentions. How did such powerful leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav agree to a friendly fight on 11 seats? If they had strictly adhered to alliance principles, would this have happened? Would any Congress candidate have had the courage to ignore Rahul Gandhi’s request? Is there any RJD leader who would disobey Tejashwi Yadav’s orders? But neither party made a sincere effort to avoid a friendly fight. Congress defeated RJD in Vaishali How could a heart break when a stone collides with glass? Glass collided with a stone, and it was bound to break, and it did. In 11 seats, the Grand Alliance hurled stones at each other’s glass houses. In the Vaishali seat, RJD’s Ajay Kumar and Congress’s Sanjeev Singh fought each other. JDU’s Siddharth Patel won. JDU defeated RJD by a huge margin of around 32,000 votes. Sanjeev Singh came in third. Clearly, if Congress had not contested this seat, RJD could have had the upper hand. Meaning, Congress defeated RJD. CPI defeated Congress in Rajapakad Congress’s Pratima Kumari and CPI’s Mohit Paswan contested the Rajapakad seat. However, JDU’s Mahendra Ram won. Mahendra Ram defeated Congress’s Pratima Kumari by a huge margin of 41,000 votes. CPI’s Mohit Paswan came in third. CPI defeated Congress in this seat. In the Beldaur seat, Congress’s Mithilesh Nishad and IIP’s Tanisha Bharti were contesting against each other. JDU’s Panna Singh Patel emerged victorious. Panna Singh Patel defeated Congress’s Mithilesh Nishad by around 35,000 votes. IIP defeated Congress in this seat. Congress defeats RJD in Kahalgaon In the Kahalgaon seat, Congress’s Praveen Singh Kushwaha and RJD’s Rajneesh Bharti were contesting against each other. Both lost the election, and JDU’s Shubhanand Mukesh emerged victorious. Shubhanand defeated RJD’s Rajneesh Bharti by over 50,000 votes. Congress defeated RJD in this seat, finishing fourth. Clearly, Congress should not have contested this seat. Congress suffered a humiliating defeat in the Sultanganj seat. Congress candidate Lalan Kumar received only 2,754 votes. Despite being weak, Congress insisted on contesting this seat. As a result, RJD’s Chandan Sinha’s position deteriorated. Seeing the two allies fighting each other, the public turned to JDU’s Lalit Narayan Mandal. Lalit Mandal defeated RJD’s Chandan Sinha by over 31,000 votes. VIP defeats RJD in Chainpur Mukesh Sahni’s stubbornness led to RJD’s defeat in the Chainpur seat. Brijkishore Bind of RJD and Balgovind Bind of VIP were fighting amongst themselves on this seat. Balgovind Bind is the state president of VIP. Mukesh Sahni forcibly fielded his own candidate on this seat. But the public gave a befitting reply to Mukesh Sahni. Balgovind Bind of VIP slipped to seventh place. This shows how big a leader Mukesh Sahni is of the Nishad community. Mahendra Gupta of CPI sank the boat of Santosh Mishra of Congress on Karhagar seat. Santosh Mishra was a sitting MLA. Both were defeated badly. BSP came second. Vashisht Singh of JDU won the election here. CPI defeated RJD in Bihar Sharif. Similarly, in the Bihar Sharif seat, CPI’s Shivkumar Yadav defeated Congress’s Umaid Khan. In the Bachhwara seat, CPI’s Awadhesh Rai defeated Congress’s Garib Das. BJP’s Surendra Mehta won this seat. In the Narkatiaganj seat, RJD’s Shashwat Kedar defeated RJD’s Deepak Yadav. BJP won this seat. In the Sikandra seat, Congress’s Vinod Chaudhary defeated RJD’s Uday Narayan Chaudhary. HAM’s Praful Manjhi won this seat. Congress finished fifth in Sikandra. When Congress, RJD, CPI, VIP, and IIP spent their energy trying to defeat each other, why is a meeting being held to find the reason for the defeat? It seems that perhaps a scapegoat may be found to save the honor of some senior leaders; this is the gist of the meeting. Constitution Month Special | A unique ‘Ambedkar Temple’ in Munger, Bihar, with a 12-foot-tall statue: A retired captain donated land to build it, where the Constitution is the supreme deity!

This year, on Baba Saheb’s birth anniversary, April 14th, a 12-foot-tall ‘Statue of Equality’, imported from Delhi, was dedicated to society. Munger – 185 kilometers from Bihar’s capital, Patna, on the National Highway in Ghorghat, a small village in Munger district, stands a structure completely different from traditional temples. There’s no Hindu deity, no mosque dome, no golden gate of a gurudwara, but only a 12-foot-tall statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, which glows with the first rays of the sun and reminds people, “Educate, Agitate, Organize.” This is not a ‘temple’, but a living symbol of equality, social justice, and the Constitution. Its creator, 80-year-old retired Army Captain Yogal Kishore Paswan, says, “My religion is the Constitution. Babasaheb is like a god to us Dalits.” Tamal Saha of News The Truth (NTT) was on a 185-kilometer journey towards Patna. On the national highway near Munger, he suddenly saw a gigantic figure from a distance. Saha explains in his video that the statue was so impressive that he had to stop the car. Locals told him that it was a temple to Babasaheb, built by retired army officer Captain Yogal Kishore Paswan. 12-foot Ambedkar pillar erected in memory of his wife 80-year-old retired Army officer Captain Paswan said that he was a captain in the AUC (Armed Units Corps) and had traveled throughout India, from Ladakh to every corner. The Captain said that he had built this ‘Statue of Equality’, which is 12 feet tall. A statue this tall probably exists only in Patna, Bihar. Each one is 8-10 feet tall. Captain Paswan explained that in this building, children will study downstairs, and there will be office space upstairs. The lower portion will be an education center, where children will study without any discrimination. The upper portion will be for visitors and guests. At the top, there will be a statue of Babasaheb. When asked why people are building temples, why did you build this one, Captain Paswan replied: “It’s my hobby. I’m a soldier, not a leader who rises with the thought of earning money. I gave all my land in Babasaheb’s name. I have to die, so what will you take away?” Captain Paswan explained that just as the Emperor built the Taj Mahal, this one is also a Taj Mahal for me, which I built in memory of my wife, Maya Devi. The statue of Babasaheb was brought from Delhi. Respect for the Constitution: Babasaheb’s Contribution Captain says emotionally: “Ambedkar Saheb gave the country the Constitution. My granddaughter is a lawyer, and my younger daughter is a lawyer in the Patna High Court. They are all carrying the Constitution with them.” A soldier has no income, but he felt like doing this. He gave away 15-20 feet of land without even asking his son or daughter.” He insists, “Why not worship the Constitution? It’s a deity, equal to God. Baba Saheb is revered all over the world, and he gave us this Constitution, which runs the country. Whether the government is in Delhi or Bihar, it will have to abide by the Constitution, otherwise the people will overthrow them.” In response to a question about why Dalits were once not allowed to enter temples in Bihar, Captain says that here, visitors to the Ambedkar Temple “won’t be asked about their caste. Everyone from a beggar to a rich person can come and talk. Anyone can go inside.” On being asked about religion, Captain says, “I am a Hindu, but I consider Baba Saheb as God because there may be other gods, but he was a living person. What he gave to the country, no leader could give. The Constitution belongs to everyone—Hindus, Muslims, Christians, every caste.” Captain Paswan’s family consists of four daughters and a son who is an assistant manager at the LIC. He says, “I could have sold the land, but I donated it. I am indebted to Babasaheb from my previous life. I must have been stingy, so I gave away my share now.” Currently, construction work is underway, with the plastering of the ground floor remaining, which will be used for the children’s education once it is complete. Chirag to revive Dalit Sena, embark on Bihar Yatra soon

Patna: Union minister and LJP (RV) chief Chirag Paswan on Friday said the party would embark on a Bihar Yatra to identify the state’s smaller issues. Chirag also said the Dalit Sena would be revived and reorganised under the leadership of Jamui MP Arun Bharti. He added that his party’s foundation day will be celebrated in a grand manner in Patna on Nov 28. Chirag said he wished to expand his party’s footprint beyond Bihar to states such as West Bengal, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, and plans to contest as an NDA partner. “We won 19 out of the 29 seats contested within the NDA because of the people’s blessings and PM Narendra Modi’s support to our party. The LJP (RV) has been given two ministerial berths in Bihar. I am satisfied. How greedy can Chirag be,” he said, laughing. LJP (RV) MLA Sanjay Kumar (Paswan) has been allocated sugar cane industries, while Mahua MLA Sanjay Singh has been given the PHED ministry. Singh defeated RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s elder son and Janshakti Janata Dal chief Tej Pratap Yadav. Chirag also criticised the opposition RJD and Congress for blaming SIR and vote theft instead of undertaking self-introspection on why people have rejected them since 2005. “Even the third generation of Lalu ji will not come to power if they keep making excuses. Their mindset and thinking caused the downfall of RJD and Congress. We also suffered defeat but assessed where we went wrong. After defeat, you need to do some honest introspection,” Chirag said. The LJP (RV) chief said his party set up its organisation in all districts of Bihar and worked hard, which is reflected in the election results. “In these 5 years, the party further increased its vote share from 2020 elections. This time, we contested just 29 seats, but we touched 5% vote share. This reflects a constant growth of LJP (RV),” he said. Replying to a query on the accusation of ‘parivarvad’ in politics, the son of former Union minister late Ram Vilas Paswan said everything depends on competence. “My party was dismantled in 2021, but because of competence, I revived it,” Chirag said. He added that his estranged uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras congratulated him on the party’s success in the assembly elections. “I accept it. My uncle said so many things against me, but still he is my elder and I have his blessings,” he said. Bihar Election Results 2025: Top 10 winners and losers

Bihar has delievered its verdict. It’s NDA ‘phir ek baar, with 200 paar’. They’re poised to break the 2010 record, when the NDA won 206 seats. The results have given both stunning victories and crushing setbacks. Here’s a look at the biggest winners and losers of Bihar’s high-stakes 2025 election. Bihar Election Results 2025 WINNERS Nitish Kumar Janata Dal (United) chief Nitish Kumar has once again emerged as the biggest winner of the Bihar elections 2025 as he managed to fight the 20 years of anti-incumbency and voter fatigue effectively. Despite nearly two decades in power, Nitish’s JD(U) made a clear gain this elections while leading in over 80 seats with the NDA tally of over 200 in the 243-member assembly. With this, Nitish has also blocked Tejashwi Yadav’s rise (again). Tejashwi had strong momentum in the last election with the RJD emerging as the largest single party and hoped for a full-term run this time. But the results show that the “youth vs experience” narrative has collapsed in Nitish’s favour. PM Modi The Bihar election results have once again proved that Prime Minister Narendra Modi it the GOAT with the NDA’s performance resting heavily on his personal popularity. Despite local anti-incumbency against Nitish Kumar, voters seems to have clearly distinguished state issues from PM Modi’s national leadership and voted in favour of “Modi ki guarantee”. His welfare schemes clearly created a strong beneficiary base that rallied behind the NDA. The results also halt any opposition momentum and reaffirm PM Modi’s unmatched vote-transferability, keeping the BJP firmly positioned for 2029. His BJP emerged as the single largest party by winning 89 seats. In a state defined by caste and shifting alliances, Bihar shows that PM Modi’s appeal still drives the coalition’s success. Chirag Paswan Chirag Paswan has emerged as one of the biggest gainers this Bihar election, marking a sharp turnaround from 2020 when his LJP won just one seat despite securing nearly 6% vote share. This time, his party has converted that scattered support into solid gains by winning 22 seats out of the 29 seats it was contesting. This result proves that Chirag’s personal appeal worked among Dalits and “yuva Biharis”. By distancing himself from the Nitish Kumar-led NDA earlier and then returning as a strengthened ally, he positioned himself as a rising force with independent bargaining power. His improved tally signals the consolidation of the Paswan vote and elevates him from a fringe disruptor in 2020 to a key power player in 2025. Women voters Women were the biggest winners of the Bihar elections, driving historic turnout and decisively shaping the verdict. For the first time, women outvoted men, 72% versus 63%, with many districts seeing a 10–20 point lead in female turnout. Their overwhelming participation tilted the mandate toward the NDA, boosted by welfare schemes like the Rs 10,000 Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana, which resonated with poorer and backward communities. Years of empowerment through panchayati raj reservations and Jeevika self-help groups strengthened mobilisation. Prioritising governance, safety and stability, women voters backed parties promising welfare and security, becoming the true kingmakers of Bihar 2025. Asaduddin Owaisi Owaisi’s AIMIM may not have won a large number of seats in the 2025 Bihar election, but politically, Owaisi walks away as a clear strategic winner. AIMIM was leading in five seats as counting was under way for the Bihar assembly polls, according to the Election Commission. The party, which has significant influence in the Seemanchal region that has a high Muslim population, is contesting 29 of the 243 seats in the assembly. Twenty-four of the seats it is contesting are in the Seemanchal region. His party once again proved its ability to shape tight contests in Muslim-heavy constituencies across Seemanchal, reaffirming his relevance in a state where every percentage point matters. Losers Tejashwi Yadav The Bihar election result marks a major setback for Tejashwi Yadav, who entered the race as the opposition’s CM face and the Mahagathbandhan’s only realistic challenger to the NDA. After leading RJD to 75 seats in 2020, making it the single largest party, Tejashwi was widely expected to build on that momentum in 2025. Instead, Tejashwi failed to convert the momentum and anti-incumbency wave against Nitish Kumar into actual votes. His party is on track to win 25 seats. This would be RJD’s second-worst showing in Bihar election after 2010 polls when theparty had won only 22 seats. This election offered an opportunity to correct that trajectory but Congress failed to improve its footprint, reinforcing the perception that it adds little electoral
