YSRCP slams coalition for false cases against dalit activist
Narasaraopet, March 10: Former Minister Vidudala Rajini has expressed anguish over the coalition government’s vendetta against YSRCP cadres, particularly targeting dalit youth and social media activist Dodda Rakesh Gandhi with illegal cases.
She was speaking to media here on Monday after extending support to Rakesh lodged in Narasaraopet jail. She accused the government of suppressing marginalized communities and failing to tolerate criticism of its shortcomings. She criticized the coalition government’s policies, stating that their sole aim appears to be implementing a so-called “Red Book” agenda. She pointed out that in the nine months since assuming power, the government has failed to deliver on its “Super Six” or “Super Seven” promises and claimed the coalition, led by Chandrababu Naidu, has been harassing YSRCP activists since taking power, citing Rakesh’s case as evidence.
Rajini stated that TDP MLA Pattipati Pullarao pressured the police to file a false case against Rakesh. The complaint, lodged by an individual named Basha, claims that on March 6, Rakesh and two associates, Phaneendra Nagishetti and Damishetti Koteshwar, attacked and threatened him near Chilakaluripeta’s KalaMandir Centre.
Police registered a case under serious sections. However, evidence disproves this: CCTV footage shows Rakesh was at a residence in Guntur at the time, Phaneendra was at a salon, and Koteshwar was working in Hyderabad.
Rajini condemned the police for weaving fabricated narratives to target YSRCP supporters, noting that courts have rejected similar cases under BNS 111, prompting a shift to non-bailable charges. She warned that such misuse of power would erode public trust in the police and affirmed that the YSRCP has submitted evidence to the courts to fight these injustices
