Yoga Guru Ramdev summoned to Hisar court for comments on Dalits
HISAR: Hisar additional sessions judge Raj Kumar Jain has issued a notice to yoga guru Ramdev, ordering him to appear before the court on October 22 for his comments about Dalits.
In April 2014, Ramdev had allegedly commented that Congress president Rahul Gandhi was visiting the homes of Dalits for picnic and celebrating honeymoon.
Hisar-based lawyer and Dalit activist Rajat Kalsan had filed a complaint against Ramdev before the Hansi police under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes
(Prevention of Atrocities) Act on 27 April, 2014, but the police had not registered the case. Afterwards, he had filed a complaint before sub-divisional judicial magistrate’s court, which rejected his petition on July 14 after recording his statement.
He said he filed a revision petition before the additional sessions judge against the lower court’s order.
