Why did Ambedkar give the credit of India’s independence only to Subhash Chandra Bose and Azad Hind Fauj?
Baba Saheb Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, who worked to end the discrimination between the Bahujan Samaj and the upper caste in the country, due to which he was called the hero of the Bahujan Samaj, while he was one such person who played an important role in India’s independence. Played a role and that hero was Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

While the names of many Mahatma people are taken for giving freedom to India, the names of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Babasaheb Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar are only in books. While Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose did not tell caste as a big problem, Babasaheb Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar gave the credit of India’s independence to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and his Azad Hind Fauj and he said this during the interview. .
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Babasaheb Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar were veteran leaders of their time. Both were educated abroad and both these leaders fought hard to make their mark in pre-independence India. While the views of these two were different, both these leaders were visionaries as well and both were admirers of each other.
These veteran leaders met only once and that date was 22 July 1940, when these leaders met each other, there were many talks between them regarding the Federation. Meanwhile, Ambedkar asked Bose a question regarding Scheduled Castes, whose answer he did not find very satisfactory and mentioned in a speech by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. What were Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s views on caste? Not there. Now what is the meaning of caste system. Caste system means that the society is divided into certain groups on the basis of occupation and marriages take place within those groups.
In modern times, there is no difference of any kind on the basis of caste in India. A person of any caste is free to adopt any profession. So in this sense today we do not have caste system. Then the question remains of marriage. In olden times it was a practice that people used to marry within their own caste. Today inter caste marriage is common. Caste is fast disappearing.
The truth is that in the national movement we never ask the caste of any person and we do not even know the caste of some of our closest associates. Baba Saheb gave the credit of India’s independence to Netaji. While Subhash could not say anything satisfactory about caste, Baba Saheb Ambedkar clearly said in an interview with Francis Watson in February 1955 that India’s independence was probably Subhash Chandra Bose’s Azad Hind. Found because of the army and their widespread influence.
In this interview with Francis Watson, Babasaheb Ambedkar said, ‘The British were assuming that the Indians involved in the British army would never change their loyalty towards them. It is a different matter that after listening to the stories of INA’s valor during the Second World War, voices of rebellion started rising in the minds of the Indian soldiers involved in the British Army. Apart from this, the news of 40 thousand soldiers of INA coming to India also made the British feel that it is difficult for them to rule in this country. This country has started changing.
