The incident is from Mohanganj Gohri village of Phaphamu, Prayagraj. On the night of Wednesday, November 24, some people entered a house. The head of the family, his wife, 16-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son were sleeping in the house. It is alleged that these four people were murdered. When the door of the house did not open in the morning, the people of the village informed the police. Police found blood-soaked bodies of all four in the house. An ax was also recovered.
According to a BBC report, it is written in the FIR that the girl’s clothes were in disarray. It seemed that she was gang-raped. According to the FIR, Dabang Akash Singh of the village, his father Amit Singh, Amit Singh’s wife Babli Singh and eight others also beat up the Dalit family on September 5 and 21 over a land dispute. He had threatened to kill him. An FIR was lodged in this matter in the police station, but the police did not take any action. In the FIR, the police station in-charge Phaphamu Ram Kewal Patel and constable Sushil Kumar Singh have been accused of pressurizing them to reconcile. In the FIR, there has also been an allegation of gang-rape with the minor, so the sections of the POCSO Act have also been included in the case.
According to Aaj Tak, Prayagraj SSP Best Tripathi, who is investigating the incident, had told the day after the incident,
In 2019 and 2021, he got a case done against some people under the SC / ST Act. He has alleged that no action was taken in that case. We will also take strict action after knowing about this. We have taken the suspects into custody and after questioning, the incident will be revealed soon.”
Opposition surrounded the government
BSP supremo Mayawati tweeted on Saturday, November 27, alleging poor law and order situation in the state. He tweeted,
“Recently, the brutal murder of four people of a Dalit family in Prayagraj, UP, is very sad and shameful. This incident also shows the poor law and order of the government. It seems that in this matter the BJP is also following the footsteps of the SP government. After this incident, the first delegation of BSP, led by Babulal Bhanra, told that there is tremendous terror of dabangs in Prayagraj, due to which this incident has also happened. The government should take strict legal action against all the guilty gangsters.
What did Akhilesh Yadav say?
At the same time, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav also surrounded the Yogi government by tweeting on Saturday, November 27, regarding the incident of Prayagraj. Wrote that 4 dalits were killed in Phaphamau, Allahabad, this incident is a blot on the BJP government in the state. Hopefully these criminals will be seen even without glasses.
It was told from the Twitter handle of the Samajwadi Party that SP has sent a delegation of some leaders in this matter to Prayagraj to meet the victim’s family.
According to Pankaj Srivastava of Aaj Tak, the delegation of SP demanded strict action against the culprits under the Pocso Act. Along with this, they also demanded financial compensation of one crore and government jobs to the families of the victims.
Priyanka Gandhi met the victim’s family
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi met the victim’s family on Friday, 26 November. During this, Priyanka Gandhi raised serious questions on the law and order of the state. Priyanka said that daughters are no longer safe in the Yogi government. Priyanka alleged that the victim’s family was not getting cooperation from the police. So far only two police personnel have been removed in this case, while the women say that when she used to go to the police station to complain, the policemen used to make fun of her.
