UP Shocker: Case filed against two people for making obscene gestures with Dalit woman

Bhadohi, November 12: In Uttar Pradesh’s Bhadohi district, police filed a case against two people for assaulting a Dalit newly married couple returning from Chhath Puja and for allegedly making obscene gestures with the woman. An official gave this information on Tuesday. Police Circle Officer Ashok Mishra said on Tuesday that a Dalit newly married woman was returning home with her husband after performing Chhath Puja on the evening of November 7 under Rajpura police station area.
He said that when the husband and wife were returning home, Fakre Alam alias DM and Irfan Ali allegedly made obscene gestures with the woman. The official said that when the husband protested, the accused used casteist words and beat him up. He said that during this time the woman somehow escaped from the clutches of the accused and reached home.
Mishra said that on the complaint of the woman, a case was registered on Monday against Fakre Alam and Irfan Ali under sections 75, 76, 352, 115 (2) of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) and relevant sections of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Act. He said that the absconding accused are being searched.
