UP: 22-year-old Dalit man goes to meet girlfriend in Firozabad, killed by her family
Agra: In a shocking incident, a 22-year-old Dalit youth was tied up, thrashed and beaten to death by the family of his girlfriend in Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh.
The victim had gone to meet his girlfriend who belonged to a different caste. The youth succumbed to his injuries at a hospital. The deceased has been identified as Pawan Kumar, a resident of Prem Nagar.
Police have now arrested five members of the girl’s family. The murder took place under Rasulpur police station limits of the district.
According to the family of Pawan, the deceased was in a relationship with the 20-year-old, who lived in Shanti Nagar for a year.
Pawan’s family claimed the girl had called him to meet her at around 1am. He was later caught and brutally beaten at the girl’s house.
Hearing Pawan screaming for help, the neighbours of the girl alerted the police.
“We came to know about the incident around 7 am in the morning. We found him lying inside a police van. He was taken to the district hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Before his death, he narrated the entire incident to the police. Pawan was called by the girl and later brutally beaten,” the report quoted Pawan’s brother Akash as saying. \
Police have registered a case under Section 302 (murder) against seven persons including the girl’s father. Five people have been arrested.
Rasulpur SHO Fatah Bahadur Bhadoriya said the body has been sent for post-mortem. He said the woman’s father and relatives have confessed to their crime. Two accused are still at large.
Pawan and the woman were said to be in regular touch for several months over the phone. The girl’s family was against their relationship and had warned the youth to stay away from her.
