Transsexuals seek action against officer for disrespect
TRICHY: A group of transgenders demanded action against the project officer of Magalir Thittam in Trichy for disrespecting them in a dispute over rent for their shop, in Trichy on Monday. After submitting a petition to Trichy district collector S Sivarasu, Tamil Nadu Transgender Welfare Board member Kajol said that project officer N Saravanan termed her a nonsensical person in a show cause notice issued to her.
“In the letter, the project officer had mentioned that I argued with him without basic knowledge on fixing the rent for a shop run by our people in the space provided to them in Poomalai Complex in Trichy,” said Kajol. Kajol met the project officer at his office on April 13 this year and explain to him about the difficulties in paying Rs 5,700 as monthly rent for a juice centre there. She said that the project officer deliberately fixed the ‘exorbitant rent’ after she failed to organise a transgender to participate in the voters’ awareness program in Trichy on April 12. 5/15/2019 Transsexuals seek action against officer for disrespect
“When I requested him to reduce the rent amount, he reprimanded me for not organising a transgender to participate in the meeting. I apologized for it. Yet, he and his subordinates ridiculed me and forced me out,” she said. Though she had raised the issue with the collector on April 13, it was not taken up seriously due to the general elections. As the PO sent the show cause notice on April 22, she raised the issue again. Download The Times of India News App for Latest City .
