Transgenders protest over extortion woes
Hyderabad: Members of the transgender community staged a protest at Cyberabad commissionerate on Monday demanding police action against certain people of the community for extorting money.
About 30 members of the transgender community arrived at Cyberabad commissionerate premises on Monday afternoon and staged a protest demanding immediate legal action against Yasmin, Monalisa and Swapna for operating gangs and extorting money from the members by threatening them. Some of the protesters even threatened to set themselves ablaze but police officials pacified them and directed them to approach Jubilee Hills police under whose jurisdiction the gangs were operating.
Earlier, a help desk for members of the community was set up at Cyberabad commissionerate.
