Transgender, 28, found murdered in coconut grove
Trichy: A 28-year-old transgender was found murdered near No 1 toll gate in Trichy on Wednesday night.
The body of Manikandan alias Manimegalai, from Mannachanallur area was found with her throat slit at a coconut grove in Vazhavandhapuram on the Trichy – Chennai national highway.
Locals spotted the body and informed the Kollidam police. Police investigated whether the murder happened at the coconut grove, or the murderer(s) dumped the body there after murdering her somewhere else.
Police said on Thursday that they were yet to ascertain the motive behind the murder. The body was shifted to the government hospital in Srirangam where a postmortem was performed. It was later handed over to the family members.

The man, named Rajiv Singh, had been serving a life sentence for murder and was found working as a security guard in Delhi under a fake name.
