Slain activist’s kin stage protest
Dalit leader Kedar Singh Jindan was crushed by a Scorpio on Friday
The inability of the government to provide security to the weak and Dalits is responsible for the gruesome killing of Dalit leader Kedar Singh Jindan, who was crushed by a Scorpio on Friday at Bakras village in Shillai, Sirmaur district, said CPM state committee here on Sunday.
Member of the state secretariat of CPM Rakesh Singh, who yesterday came in support of the family members of the deceased, demanding impartial inquiry into the killing, said Jindan had said he was facing threat to life but the Sirmaur police failed to save him.
Jindan had raised several issues of atrocities on the lower class by the high-class people in Sirmaur district. The family members and friends of Jindan lodged a protest on The Ridge and demanded strong and immediate action against those involved in the killing. The last rites were performed in his native village.
