SHG member dragged, held captive, molested in Berasia
BHOPAL: A man allegedly waylaid a 34-year-old woman, who runs a selfhelp group (SHG), at a village in Berasia and forcefully dragged her into his room and molested her on Thursday morning. The woman was going to collect money from the other women members of the SHG when the accused grabbed her. When she protested and raised alarm the accused hurled abuses on her and fled the spot. The locals nabbed and thrashed him.
The Berasia police acting on the victim woman’s complaint registered a case against the accused on charges of molestation, holding a woman captive, threatening and assault under relevant sections of IPC and Prevention of Atrocities against SC/ST Act.
According to Berasia police, the survivor runs an SHG in Berasia. She was going to collect money from fellow members house around 10.30 am. She alleged that Vikram Rajput, a neighbour of an SHG woman member, allegedly made some obscene comments. When she objected and went near his house, he started talking to her and dragged her into his room. He closed the door and started molesting her.
When the woman protested, he beat her up mercilessly and hurled abuses on her. He then fled the spot fearing the local villagers who rushed to the spot after hearing the woman’s cries. The villagers nabbed him and thrashed him. The matter was then reported to Berasia police. Police registered a case against the accused and started investigations.
The accused has also lodged a counter case against the survivor and local residents accusing them of assault on him and his wife. Berasia police have registered a case on his complaint.
In another bizarre case reported at Hanumanganj police station on Thursday, a 34-year-old woman accused her brother-in-law (husband’s elder brother) of sexually harassing her by exposing himself in an indecent manner.
According to police, the survivor said her brother-in-law’s family and her family reside in the same house, but in different portions. She alleged that the entry and exit of both the houses were different but her brother-in-law often intruded whenever he found her alone. She alleged that on March 13 at around 12.30 pm she went to the terrace to dry clothes. She alleged the accused reached there and hurled abuses on her and then exposed himself. Terrified, the survivor fled inside. She narrated the incident to her husband and then reported the matter to police.
A 17-year-old girl was allegedly molested by her neighbour while she was standing outside her house on Thursday night. The accused had been stalking the Class 12 student for past few months. She narrated the incident to her mother and then reported it to Piplani police. Acting on her complaint, police registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of IPC and POCSO Act and started investigations.
According to police, the survivor accused her neighbour Dhiraj Shukraware of stalking her on the way to school and coaching class since September 2018. Initially, she ignored but the accused started misbehaving with her. She alleged that on Wednesday night around 10 pm when she was standing outside her house the accused allegedly grabbed her hand and molested her. When she protested he threatened her and fled the spot.
