Shamli News: Two arrested for attempting to convert a Dalit family
Jalalabad (Shamli). Police arrested two youths of a Christian missionary who were converting a Dalit family in Ambehta Yakubpur village. Both were trying to convert Dalit families in many villages of the area by promising them help. Police challaned both of them.
Two youths reached the house of Dalit Kusumpal in Ambehta Yakubpur village of Jalalabad. They said that if the Dalit converts to Christianity, his family will be helped by the people of his religion. They have come to know that Kusumpal has a sick son, whose entire treatment cost he will bear himself. It was also decided to give them an ID card for conversion.
On receiving information about the attempt to convert, Thana Bhawan police reached the spot and caught two youths, Monu son of Mir Singh, a resident of Harinagar in Muzaffarnagar and Rajneesh son of Rajbhag, a resident of Fatehpur in Deoband, Saharanpur. During police interrogation, both of them told that they used to convince poor Dalit families to convert to Christianity by promising to make them rich and cure the illness of their family members. Dalit people of some nearby villages were also in contact with them.
On the complaint of Kusumpal, the police have registered a case against both the accused under the Religious Conversion Prohibition Act. Two books, diaries and ID cards have been recovered from the accused.
– The poor remain on target
During police interrogation, the accused told that they go to different villages and search for such Dalit families who are poor and have someone sick in their family. After this, they brainwash them to convert to Christianity by deceiving them. They are also taught prayers etc. SP Ram Sevak Gautam says that information is also being collected about other gang members of the accused. Action will be taken against all the members of the gang.
