Seven men kidnap, gang-rape Dalit woman in Lucknow, one held

LUCKNOW: A 28-year-old Dalit woman accused seven persons of raping her after kidnapping her when she was going to purchase medicines in in Sushant Golf City police station area.A team of police nabbed one of the accused, Anwar Ruyani, a resident of Katra Baksa who is said to be the prime accused in the case. The accused beat up the woman and snatched her mobile phone. In her complaint, the woman said she was raped on Tuesday afternoon when she was going to the CHC in the area. After she was let off, she remained in trauma for hours and later at night, the woman went to the police station with a complaint. The police registered a case under various sections including gang rape started searching for the accused.
According to the woman, at 12 noon, Anwar and his six other companions caught her near Khurdahi market. It was alleged that after a verbal spat, the accused dragged her to a garden and gang-raped her. They thrashed her when she protested. They also took away her mobile phone.
After the incident, the victim told her family about the incident when she reached home. At night, the woman along with her family reached Sushant Golf City police station and registered a case against seven people including Anwar.
ADCP South, Shashank Singh said that Anwar’s house was raided and he was caught. The victim is still in shock. “We could not talk to her much,” the police said.
“We are raiding all possible hideouts of others named in the case,” said the officer.
