SC-ST Farmers: SC-ST, women, small-medium farmers will get 50 percent subsidy on buying drones
New Delhi m : (SC-ST Farmers) Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar inaugurated the conference on “Promoting Farmer Drones: Issues, Challenges and Way Ahead”. In this, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that the government is promoting the use of drones to facilitate farmers, reduce costs and increase income. For this, discounts have been provided to different classes in buying drones. Guidelines have also been issued for providing financial assistance for individual drone purchases, under which Scheduled Caste Farmers -Scheduled Tribe Farmers, Small and Marginal, Women and Farmers of North Eastern States ( For the purchase of drones for the farmers of Northeastern states, assistance of 50 percent of the drone cost or maximum of Rs 5 lakh will be given. 40 percent or maximum Rs.4 lakh to other farmers. assistance will be given.
In this conference organized under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Chief Guest, Union Minister Tomar told that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken the initiative of using drones in agricultural work with a vision, in the larger interest of farmers. The government is promoting the use of ‘Kisan Drones’ for crop evaluation, digitization of land records, spraying pesticides and nutrients, which has also been provisioned in the budget.
He said that in order to make this technology affordable to farmers and other stakeholders, along with contingency expenditure under Submission on Agricultural Mechanization for its demonstration on farms, Farm Machinery Training and Testing Institutes, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) institutions, Krishi Vigyan Kendras and State Agricultural Universities will be provided assistance at the rate of 100% of the cost for the purchase of drones. Farmers Producer Organization (FPO) will be given a grant of up to 75% of the agricultural drone cost for demonstration on the fields.
For the purchase of drones by existing and new Custom Hiring Centers (CHCs) under Farmers Co-operative Society and Rural Entrepreneurs for providing agriculture services through drones, the rate of 40% of the original cost of the drone and its related parts from Rs.4 lakh or Rs. whichever is less, financial assistance will be given. Agriculture graduates setting up CHCs will get a maximum of Rs.5 lakh @ 50% of the drone cost. are eligible for financial assistance. In addition to the already identified institutions for drone demonstration, other agricultural institutions of the state and central government, central public sector undertakings engaged in agricultural activities have also been brought in the eligibility list for the financial assistance of farmer drone demonstration.
The Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare is providing assistance to the State Governments through several schemes to promote agriculture across the country and increase production and productivity, apart from reducing the human labor associated with various agricultural activities. Helping farmers have access to modern technology to improve the use efficiency of inputs like seeds, fertilizers and irrigation water.
