Rape, murder of minor girl alleged in Kalahandi; NH 26 blocked, CBI probe demanded
Bhawanipatna, Aug 22: An alleged incident of rape and murder of minor girl has triggered widespread resentment among public in Kalahandi district’s Junagarh area now.
BJP and other political and social organisations have expressed strong anguish and demanded strong action against the culprit.
A fact-finding team of BJP SC Morch has met the family members of the deceased and demanded an proper investigation into the matter.
According to information, Kanak Nial, daughter of Vine Nial of Ghotia village, was studying in Class X in the Chichia Girls’ High School. She had gone out during lunch recess on Tuesday and never returned home. After a long search by family members, she was found hanging from a tree with her dupatta. Subsequently, the family members lodged a complaint with the Golamunda police station, alleging that she was murdered and demanding an investigation into it.
While police have termed the incident as a suicide, family members and activists have alleged that the police are trying to supress the matter as the victim belonged to a Dalit family.
“Though five days have passed, it is ironic that police have not taken any action in the matter. We demand that culprits be arrested soon,” said an activist of the BJP SC Morch.
Meanwhile, the Bahujan Chhatra Sangathan blocked the National Highway 26 in protest against the police inaction. The activists demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident.
Due to road the road blockade, traffic movement has come to a standstill on the highway.
Latest reports said, the Golamunda police have detained three persons in connection with the case.
