Rahul Gandhi donates one month’s salary for rehab works in Wayanad
T’puram: Lok Sabha opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has donated his one-month salary of Rs 2.3 lakh to KPCC as part of its fundraising for the rehabilitation of landslide victims in Wayanad.
Rahul had announced following his visit to the disaster-affected area in the hill district that Congress would construct 100 houses for the people who lost their homes and livelihoods. KPCC, which has taken up the campaign, launched a mobile app ‘Stand with Wayanad-INC’ to raise funds.
KPCC president K Sudhakaran, MP, is overseeing the progress of the Wayanad rehabilitation activities. Party units, allied organisations, cells, MPs and MLAs have been asked to collect contributions from their respective areas. Congress workers, sympathisers, and functionaries can make their donations directly through the mobile app, KPCC general secretary M Liju said.
Once the donation is received in the bank account, the donor will receive an SMS notification, and a digital receipt signed by Sudhakaran and opposition leader V D Satheesan. The digital receipt can also be printed via the app. KPCC has formed a nine-member committee to lead the fundraising and the rehabilitation efforts.
