Pune Community Unites For Transgender Day Of Remembrance
Pune, November 21, 2024 : Mist LGBTQ Foundation, in collaboration with community partners Qutcast, Shikhandi, Muktaa Foundation, CYDA, and Girl Up Jeevika, invites the public to a candlelight vigil in honor of Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR). The vigil will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Sambhaji Garden, Deccan, Pune.
Transgender Day of Remembrance is an annual event that honors the memory of transgender individuals who have lost their lives to anti-transgender violence. The vigil serves as a poignant reminder of the ongoing struggles faced by the transgender community and as a call to action to create a safer, more inclusive. society.
“This is a time to come together as a community to remember those we have lost, show solidarity with the transgender community, and reaffirm our commitment to a future free from violence and discrimination,” said Shyam Konnur Founder and CEO Mist LGBTQ Foundation. The organizers encourage people from all walks of life to attend the vigil and show their support for the transgender community. Attendees will light candles as a symbol of hope, resilience, and unity in the fight for equality and justice.
