Probe to determine Pranay’s caste ordered
District Collector Gaurav Uppal has appointed an inquiry to determine the caste of Perumalla Pranay Kumar, who was killed on September 14 for marrying a caste Hindu girl.
The copy directing the Miryalaguda Revenue Divisional Officer for inquiry was made available on Monday.

According to G. Prabhakar, State president of the Mala Yuvasena, on whose petition the inquiry was launched, the last rites of Pranay Kumar were performed as per Christian customs, and the family had been practising the faith, he said.Technically, they would belong to the BC-C community, and the relief extended under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act till now should be taken back, he wrote.
Incidentally, Mr. Uppal had sanctioned ₹4.25 lakh of the ₹ 8.25 lakh monetary relief on September 20, later handed over by former Minister for SC Development G. Jagadish Reddy. A government job, land and a 2BHK house for the family were also promised.
However, Pranay’s family said it they were rejecting the relief. Based on findings, the relief by the government should be recovered, the letter stated.
