Pejavar mutt seer emulates his guru in visiting Dalit colony at Kodavoor
UDUPI: Following in the footsteps of his guru Sri Vishvesha Thirtha swamiji, seer of Pejavar adhokshaja mutt Sri Vishwaprasanna Thirtha on Sunday visited Dalit colony at Palekatte in Kodavoor village here. In his first such visit to the Dalit colony, the seer signalled his intent to play his part to unify the Hindu community just as Sri Vishvesha Thirtha did during his time, which many considered revolutionary step for the late seer’s time.
While the late seer’s visit was punctuated by the need to address issues of untouchability, Sri Vishwaprasanna Thirtha’s visit is driven by a vision to strengthen and empower the Hindu community across India through the Sri Ram Temple project in Ayodhya. Incidentally, the Pejavar mutt seer is one of the trustees of Sri Ram Janma Bhoomi Thirtha Kshetra Trust that is entrusted with the task of constructing the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
Keeping this in mind, Sri Vishwaprasanna Thirtha visited the colony, a cluster of 120 houses with around 400 people with the epochal words of his guru ‘Hindavaha Sodhara Sarve’ (All Hindus are brothers) to instil confidence in them. Social activist and confidante of the seer Vasudev Bhat Perampalli and local CMC councillor Vijay Poojary had visited the colony two-days in advance and informed the residents about the seer’s visit.
The residents decorated the roads with buntings and drew rangolis in front of their houses and welcomed the seer traditionally by singing bhajans. The swamiji who visited three houses and lit ‘Rama Deepa’ in these houses exchanged pleasantries with the household members. The seer also gave them the ‘Sri Rama Jaya Rama Jaya Jaya Rama’ mantra deeksha on this occasion and advised them to utter the same every day with a clean conscience.
Later the seer who lit the lamp in front of the deity at Sri Mookambika Bhajana mandir in the colony sought cooperation of not just the residents there but also the entire Hindu community in construction of Ram Temple. “Let this temple unify the nation and usher in peace and prosperity in India,” the swamiji said. “Let us light a lamp for Lord Ram in each of our homes and follow the ideals of the Lord in our lives,” the seer said on this occasion.
