No arrest yet in triple murder case
The police continue to grope in the dark while looking for the accused in the triple murder case at Naushera in the district on the third day here today. Initial police findings have indicated it to be purely a case of honour killing. Family of the Dalit girl who eloped with a Jat Sikh boy brutally murdered father of the boy, his brother and sister on Monday night.
The post-mortem report of the bodies revealed that the deceased — father Joginder Singh (65), brother Pawandip Singh, alias Pawanjit Singh (19), and sister Prabhjit Kaur (18) — were hit with sharp-edged weapons on the head, chest and other parts of the bodies. Dr Inder Mohan Gupta, Senior Medical Officer-cum incharge of the local Civil Hospital, where the post-mortems were conducted, said bodies bore multiple injuries and sharp-edged were used for the purpose.
The accused included the father of the girl, Beera Singh, his three sons, namely Vardip Singh, Arashdip Singh and Sukh, all residents of Dhalla village, next to Naushera village. The accused included a few more accomplices.
A police official said, “The family of the girl had been very vocal about avenging the marriage of their kin with the Jat Sikh boy. Principally speaking, the villagers should have informed the police. We did not get any intimation.”
