Life imprisonment to two accused of gang rape of Dalit minor

Firozabad, Additional Sessions Judge, Special Judge SC, ST Court Ifraq Ahmed on Saturday sentenced two convicts of gang rape of a Dalit minor to life imprisonment. The court has also imposed a fine on both. Failure to pay the fine will result in additional punishment.
The matter is related to the police station Shikohabad. According to the prosecution, on January 17, 2007, at around 9 pm, a 13-year-old Dalit minor girl was standing at the door of her house waiting for her father to come under the police station area. At the same time, Amit alias Popal’s son Girwar and Zahid’s son Naseer and their other companions came and forcibly took the minor at gunpoint. The accused gang-raped the minor by taking her to a ruined plot. After searching by the mother and other people, at around 11 o’clock in the night, the victim was found lying in a semi-conscious state in the Khandranuma plot. On regaining consciousness, the victim told her mother about the incident, taking the names of both the accused. On the complaint of the victim’s mother, the police registered a report and investigated. After investigation, the police filed a charge sheet against Amit alias Popal and Zahid in the court.
For hearing and disposal of the case, Additional Sessions Judge, Special Judge SC, ST reached the court of Ifrak Ahmed. While several evidences were presented in the court during the trial, several witnesses deposed. Special Public Prosecutor Narendra Solanki, who is pleading the case on behalf of the prosecution, said that the court found the accused Amit alias Popal and Zahid guilty on the basis of evidence available on the paper and testimony of witnesses and sentenced them to life imprisonment. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 55-55 thousand on both. In case of non-payment of fine, the culprits will have to undergo additional imprisonment of 6-6 months. The court has also ordered to pay the entire amount of the fine to the victim.
