Jaipur to get 10 women samiti pradhans
Jaipur: Ahead of panchayat elections in the state, the district collectorate on Saturday conducted lottery to reserve the seats for 21 panchayat samiti pradhans, 51 zila parishad members and 443 panchayat samiti members. Ten seats have been reserved for women.
In the women category, Kishangarh Renwal and Mojamabad panchayat samiti will have women pradhan belonging to SC category, Tunga will have women pradhan belonging to scheduled tribe categorty and in Paota women belonging to OBC category will be the pradhan.
Under general category, women will become the pradhans in Kotputli, Viratnagar, Govindgarh, Bassi, Sanganer and Chaksu.
Through lotteries, reservation and allocation of seats for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class (OBC) and women has been done on these posts.
District election officer Joga Ram said that before the start of the lottery at 12.30 pm, all the public representatives were informed about the process of lottery through a presentation.
The lottery of 51 zila parishad members was conducted first. Bagru MLA Ganga Devi, Chomu MLA Ramlal and Bassi MLA Laxman Meena took out lottery slips in turn. Deputy district election officer Purushottam Sharma conducted the entire lottery.
After the lottery for 21 panchayat samiti pradhans, Madhorajpura, Mojamabad, Kishangarh Renwal and Jobner will fall under scheduled castes category. Tunga, Aandhi and Jalsu panchayat samitis will fall under scheduled tribe category. Paota, Shahpura and Jhotwara will fall under other backward class category.
Similarly, Dudu, Phagi, Amer, Jamwa Ramgarh and Sambhar panchayat samitis remain non-reserved.
The state election commission (SEC) on Thursday announced the dates for the elections to 9,171 gram panchayats and 90,400 ward panch which will be held in three phases – January 17, 22 and 29 (2020).
As per Rajasthan High Court order, the elections are being held for those gram panchayats that have not affected by the state government’s delimitation notifications issued after November 15-16.
However, the state election commission (SEC) has not announced the dates for Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections.
The counting of the votes will be conducted on the day of elections, i.e., January 17, 22 and 29.
