Is it enough to have a tribal president? In Haryana, these figures of Dalit uplift say something else.
The condition of Dalits in the state can be gauged from the ownership of cultivable land with them. The total cultivable land in the state is 89,13,210 acres, while the number of farmers is 16,28,015.
Out of this, there are only 24,800 Scheduled Caste farmers, who have only 89,661 acres of agricultural land. These farmers are also of very small holdings. Obviously, education and jobs are two such subjects, which are important mediums for the upliftment of Dalits.
But the figures are raising questions on both the policy and intentions of the government. In response to the question of MLAs Varun Chaudhary, Ramkumar Gautam and Satyaprakash Jarawata, these figures of the government given in Vis, this is the story of the government being a Dalit thinker. It is clear that for the upliftment of this society, more thinking is needed than making a President or a Governor.
