Indian Navy: ‘India is becoming a major maritime power’, said PM Modi after the launch of three naval warships

PM Modi said that today India is being recognized as a reliable and responsible partner in the whole world and especially in the Global South. India works in the spirit of development, not expansionism.

Indian Navy warships INS Surat, INS Nilgiri and INS Vagsheer were inducted into the force on Wednesday in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the naval dock. The Navy termed the induction of the three large warships as a historic occasion. During this, PM Modi said that India is becoming a major maritime power. India is being recognized as a reliable and responsible partner in the world, especially in the Global South. India is working for development, not expansionism. India has always supported a free, safe, inclusive and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.
Earlier, PM Modi said that January 15 is also celebrated as Army Day. I salute every brave soldier who has dedicated his life to protect the country. I congratulate every brave man and woman engaged in protecting mother India. Today is a big day for the glorious history of India’s maritime heritage Navy and the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan.
He said, ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had given new strength and vision to the Navy. Today, on this holy land of his, we are taking a big step towards strengthening the 21st century Navy. This is happening for the first time, when a destroyer, a frigate and a submarine are being commissioned together. It is a matter of pride that all three are Made in India.’
PM Modi said that today India is being recognized as a reliable and responsible partner all over the world and especially in the Global South. India does not work with expansionism, India works with the spirit of development. It is one of the priorities of the country that the military strength of 21st century India should also be more capable and modern. Be it water, land, sky, depth of the sea or infinite space, India is securing its interests everywhere. Reforms are being done continuously for this.
He said that the third term of our government has started with many big decisions. We have made new policies at a fast pace, we have started new works keeping in view the needs of the country, we are moving with the goal that every corner of the country, every sector should develop. India is going to play a major role in giving direction to global security, economy and geopolitical scenario.
Prime Minister Modi said that it is important to protect the coastal sea area, freedom of navigation and safe trade supply lines and sea routes. We should become a global partner in protecting the sea from drugs, weapons and terrorism and make it safe and prosperous.
INS Surat, counted among the world’s destroyers
INS Surat is the fourth and last ship of the 15B class guided missile destroyer project. It is counted among the world’s largest and most sophisticated destroyers. It has 75 percent indigenous content, equipped with state-of-the-art weapons, sensor packages and advanced network-centric capabilities.
INS Nilgiri can stay in the sea for a long time
INS Nilgiri is the first ship of the 17A stealth frigate project. It has been designed by the Indian Navy’s Warship Design Bureau. It has been inducted into the Navy with enhanced capacity, longer stay in the sea and advanced stealth features. It represents the next generation of indigenous frigates.
Vaghsheer built in collaboration with French Navy
INS Vaghsheer is the sixth and final submarine of the P75 Scorpene project. INS Vaghsheer represents India’s growing expertise in submarine construction. It has been built in collaboration with France’s Naval Group.
