Gonda: Dalit man shot dead in land dispute
Gonda (UP), A former soldier allegedly shot dead a person belonging to Scheduled Caste due to land dispute in Gonda district on Monday. A senior police officer gave this information.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Vineet Jaiswal said that retired soldier Arun Singh, resident of Gram Panchayat Taradih (Lala Purva) under Umri Begumganj police station area of ??the district, had a dispute with Dalit Ramesh Bharti (46) of the same village over road land.
The SP said that on Monday evening, Arun Singh surrounded Ramesh near Pakri Dubey village of Tarabganj police station area and started firing indiscriminately. As a result, he fell on the spot and died.
The SP said that after getting information about the incident, senior police officers along with the forensic team inspected the spot and took the body into custody and sent it to the district headquarters for post-mortem.
The officer said that on the complaint of the deceased’s son, an FIR was registered in the local police station for murder and several teams have been formed to arrest the accused. He claimed that the accused will be arrested soon.
