Find Dangawas accused, get Rs 50,000 reward: CBI
AJMER: The CBI has announced rewards of Rs 50,000 each on 10 accused wanted in connection with the 2015 Dangawas killings in Nagaur district.
The agency said non-bailable standing warrant from the court had been issued against all the accused who are still at large. The CBI has sought the common man’s help to provide information about these people and earn the reward.
Posters were pasted in Dangawas and other villages of Merta by the CBI. The case (RC 3 (5) 2015 of Dangawas) was handed over to the CBI on June 2 June, 2015 by the Rajasthan government in which 40 accused were named. The agency after investigations chargesheeted 40 persons in the Merta city court. Ten accused are still wanted and the court has issued non-bailable warrants against them.
Victim’s advocate Ramesh Chand Bansal said the CBI tried to trace all accused and arrested 30 of them and trial was initiated against them. “But now, the CBI announced Rs 50,000 reward on each of the missing 10 accused. They are Om Prakesh (36), Sampatram Danga (38), Abharam Makan (72), Ramdayal (61), Om Parkesh alias Abharam (34), Chootarram (48), Praveen Jhakar (34), Suresh Khadav (35), Ramdev Kapadia (26) and another person. All are residents of Dangawas village,” he said. In Dangawas village, six Dalits were killed and several were injured in a caste clash over a disputed land in May 2015. Considering the sensitivity of the case, the then state government handed over the investigation to CID and later to the CBI.
The allegations were that Dalit families of the village were beaten badly by the village’s influential community over the longpending land dispute. Later police arrested 10 accused. There was unrest in the district after this incident and the CBI was roped in to investigate the incident.
