Father, son thrash Dalit girls for touching hand in Rajasthan’s Dholpur
A man, along with his sons, allegedly thrashed two Dalit girls for touching the former’s hands in Rajasthan’s Dholpur district. The police have registered a case based on the complaint of the girls’ family.
The incident took place on May 8. According to the girls’ father, his daughters went to purchase groceries where the younger one allegedly touched the hands of a person sitting at the shop.
“This infuriated the man and he started abusing and thrashing my daughter. The man and his sons thrashed my daughter and when my elder daughter tried to intervene, they beat her too,” the father said in the complaint.
The kin of the girls alleged that the accused have been mounting pressure on them to agree to their terms, failing which they would have to leave the village.
NO ACTION TAKEN
Recalling the harrowing experience, the younger daughter said, “I was thrashed because I touched the hands of the accused. They belong to the Gurjar community and we are Harijans. They hurled abuses and thrashed me and police have not taken any action against the accused.”
The family also accused the police of taking no action against the accused men. The girls’ father claimed that the cops have not taken any concrete action against the accused even after six days. The family has now appealed to the district police commissioner to look into the case and take necessary action.
Meanwhile, Jas Ram, SHO of Sadar police station said, “We have received a complaint and a case has been filed against Sections 323,341,354,504,506,379 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the SC/ST Act. We are investigating the matter.”
