Delhi’s Social Welfare Department has updated its disability pension application forms to include a ‘transgender’ option. This move is expected to benefit numerous transgender individuals who have long faced systemic barriers in accessing government welfare schemes.

As of March 6, 2025, the ‘transgender’ option is now available on Delhi’s e-district website, allowing transgender individuals with disabilities to apply for the pension.

This update aligns with the provisions of the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019, which obligates governments to develop transgender-sensitive, non-stigmatizing, and non-discriminatory welfare schemes.
