Decline in the number of Dalit-tribal and OBC students in schools, the government told these figures in Parliament

Question: Will the government fulfill the dream of equal education for all?
Answer: The central government said, the National Education Policy (NEP, 2020) is based on ensuring inclusion for all and aims to achieve 100 percent Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) from pre-primary to secondary level by 2030. The central government supports states and union territories through the centrally sponsored Samagra Shiksha Yojana, which is also aligned with the NEP 2020 to ensure that all children receive quality education with an equitable and inclusive classroom environment that takes into account their diverse backgrounds, multilingual needs, different academic abilities, and makes them active participants in the learning process.
Question: Has the number of school admissions declined by about 37 lakh in the year 2023-24, if so, what are the reasons for this?
Answer: The Department of School Education and Literature, Ministry of Education has developed the Unified District Information System for Education Plus to record data on indicators of school education provided by all states and union territories. From 2022-23, the Unified District Information System for Education Plus collects individual data of each student and creates a registry of students. According to the Unified District Information System for Education Plus, the total enrollment from pre-primary to higher secondary in the year 2022-23 was 25 crore, 17 lakh, 91 thousand, 722, while in 2023-24 it was 24 crore, 80 lakh, 45 thousand, 828.
Question: Was this decline the highest among Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and girl students?
Answer: The government said that in the year 2022-23, there were 4 crore, 44 lakh, 25 thousand, 208 enrollments in the SC category, while in 2023-24 it came down to 4 crore, 28 lakh, 01 thousand, 577. At the same time, there were 2 crore, 39 lakh, 56 thousand, 131 enrollments in the ST category in 2022-23, while in 2023-24 it came down to 2 crore, 34 lakh, 41 thousand, 706. Along with this, 11 crore, 04 lakh, 03 thousand, 611 students took admission in the OBC category in 2022-23. At the same time, 10 lakh, 65 thousand, 50 thousand, 283 students took admission in 2023-24. The government said in its reply that the number of girl students has also declined. The number of girl students which was 11 crore, 62 lakh, 09 thousand, 112 in 2022-23 has come down to 11 crore, 32 lakh, 48 thousand, 84 in 2023-24.
