Dandiya players from Gujarat enthrall at Kalagram
The Crafts Mela along with the Dandia Festival is attracting many visitors at Kalagram. Organised by North Zone Cultural Centre, (NZCC) Patiala (Ministry of Culture, Government of India), the festival marks the nine-day puja festival Navratri with full fervour. The Dandia dancers from Gujarat engaged the visitors with their crisp moves and Dandia play. The team arrived here on Sunday from Bhavnagar.
Apart from dandia, visitors can also enjoy live performances by the Been Jogis of Punjab, Kachhi Ghodi dancers and the Behrupiyas from Rajasthan. The transgender folk dancers from Patiala remained the centre of attraction.
The street food from Mumbai and Dal bati churma from Jaipur is also available. The South Indian stall is offering paneer dosa along with Idli and vada sambhar. The painting exhibition at the Art Gallery here is another ongoing event. Various artistes from the region are showcasing their paintings to mark the 550th anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev and 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
