Jatin Parmar, 24, was stabbed to death after he refused to lift the barricade to the BRTS lane for a group of hooligans who came in a Verna car and a scooter. Police have detained the key accused in the case, Pintu Chauhan from Rajasthan and he has been sent for a Covid test.
Two other accused in the case have tested positive for Covid and are under treatment. The investigations in the case have been handed to the SC/ST cell.
ACP (SC/ST) cell Khusboo Kapadia, said the murder happened at around 9.30 pm near the BRT bus stand at CTM Road. “Four men in a Verna car came to the BRTS bus stand at CTM road and asked the two BRTS employees to open the automatic barricade,” she said.
“Parmar and the other employee refused as private vehicles are not allowed in BRTS lanes. This angered the accused who beat them up and warned them of consequences. They returned later in a car and a scooter and caught hold of Parmar and stabbed him. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries,” said Kapadia.
Sources said Parmar’s relatives refused to accept his body till the accused were arrested. The City Crime Branch, which probed the case, formed several teams and used technical and human surveillance to arrest the main accused from Rajasthan on Tuesday night, said sources.
