Dalit student thrashed, forced to lick foot of upper-caste men

In a shameful incident from Uttar Pradesh’s Rae Bareli, a class 10th Dalit student was thrashed and forcibly asked to lick the foot of upper-caste men.

A video of the incident is doing rounds on the internet wherein a group of men could be seen beating up the student and later forcing him to lick their feet. The video was shared by the official Twitter handle of The Dalit Voice. It is reported that the Dalit student went to the upper-caste Hindu men to ask for remuneration of his mother who worked as a labourer in their field.

Reports said that 6 upper-caste men, including 2 minors, took the student to a garden under the pretext of a ride, brutally thrashed him, and left him bleeding in the field. Following the incident, the mother of the victim filed a complaint against the 6 accused and the police arrested all of them. The 6 accused have been identified as Shivam Maurya, Hrithik Singh, Vikas Harijan, Abhishek, Uttam Singh, and Mahendra Prajapati.
