Dalit Organisations Call for Hubballi-Dharwad Bandh on January 9
HUBBALLI, Several Dalit organisations have called for a bandh in Hubballi-Dharwad on Thursday, January 9, 2025, to protest against the recent statement made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah about Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in Parliament.
Addressing the media in Hubballi on Monday, Dalit leader Gurunath Ullikashi stated that the bandh will be enforced from 6 am to 6 pm, with over 102 organisations extending their support to the protest.
“We aim to make this bandh impactful by closing all roads in the twin cities,” Ullikashi said. “Commercial establishments, hotels, cinema theatres, auto-rickshaws, schools, colleges, and government offices will remain shut during the bandh hours. Additionally, no vehicles, except essential services, will be allowed to operate.”
The organisers emphasized that the bandh will not hinder essential services, ensuring hospitals, medical stores, ambulances, and milk vans will be allowed to function without any obstruction.
