Dalit girl, 11, raped by neighbour in Agra
Agra: A 11-year-old girl from the Dalit community, who was playing outside her house, was allegedly abducted and brutally raped by a 28-year-old man from her neighbourhood.
The crime took place under Etmaduddaula police limits in Agra district on Wednesday. Hours later, the minor reached home “semi-naked with clothes soaked in blood”. She was then rushed to the SN Medical College in a “critical condition”.
The survivor was subsequently administered blood and is now undergoing treatment. According to the police, based on the complaint filed by the survivor’s mother, an FIR was registered against the accused Pradeep Nishad. A case was registered under IPC section 376 (rape) along with sections of the Pocso and SC/ST acts. Assistant commissioner of police, Rakesh Kumar Singh, said, “The accused, who was living at his relative’s place in the area, is absconding. Efforts are on to arrest him. The girl’s health condition is critical, but she is out of danger.”
In the FIR, it was stated that the accused took the girl to a newly-constructed house near his place and left after sexually assaulting her. She narrated her ordeal to her family who first took her to the police station and then to the hospital. The girl’s father works as a construction worker, and her younger sister is six years old.
