Dalit Cong worker’s hut & tractor set on fire in Bhind dist
Bhopal: Even after the completion of voting in Bhind, incidents of violence came to light on Saturday. Hut of a Dalit family was set on fire on Friday night in Dongarpura village (Barohi police station) of Ater assembly constituency of the district.
Eye witnesses said that the hut was completely burned to ashes. The fire also engulfed his tractor parked outside the hut and a large part of it was also burned. Along with this, a motorcycle kept inside the hut was also burned.
According to local villagers, the youth, Johnny Bansal worked as a Congress booth agent during the voting. He allegedly opposed few people attempting to cast ‘bogus votes’, they said.
Bansal’s opposition invited wrath of those backing the alleged ‘bogus voting’. As soon as the voting on the booth was over, Johnny got a message that his hut has been set on fire. Bansal rushed only to find that his hut was already reduced to ashes.
Accusing the BJP workers for the fire, Bansal reached Barohi police station and demanded FIR against the accused. He even sat on dharna at the police station.
Yogesh Katare, elder brother of Congress candidate Hemant Katare also reached the police station and started demanding an FIR on behalf of the victim’s family. Till the report was filed FIR was not lodged. Police said that they have launched investigation about the incident.
