Court ruling on FIR against Rahul on Jan 24

Lucknow: The MP/MLA court in Sultanpur on Wednesday set Jan 24 as the date for delivering its final order in a petition seeking the registration of an FIR against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his alleged statements on Muslims 12 years ago.
Mohd Anwar, a resident of Garha Khurd village in Sultanpur, filed the petition in 2013 seeking an FIR against Rahul Gandhi for allegedly describing Muslim youths as agents of Pakistan’s intelligence agencies while referencing the Muzaffarnagar riots during an election rally in Indore, Madhya Pradesh on Oct 24, 2013.
According to the complainant, this statement hurt his sentiments and prompted the defamation suit. Testimonies from the complainant and other witnesses were recorded, and the final hearing was scheduled for Wednesday. During proceedings, the complainant’s counsel requested the summoning of Rahul Gandhi. The court has now scheduled its decision for Jan 24.
In the same case, the testimony of Rajaram Upadhyay, a resident of Aswa village under the Kotwali Dehat police station, was recorded in Nov 2024.
